just a quickie ;)

Wow! The music video was incredible! Honestly the most tiring day of my whole holidays, but the most fun :P Just writing to say I filmed mine and David's day, and will be editing it together on his laptop, when I get a chance, and show you how it went! I started doing make-up from 10-1 and then any touch-ups needed, and had lots of compliments on it :) Stay tuned for new video!

planning is everything.

So it suddenly hits me that the music video is 4 days away.
I still need new mascaras for the actors, batteries for my camera and most importantly of all, baby wipes!
As my boyfriend sleeps in my bed, I'm up all night thinking up ideas for the lead character, a girl who uses a boy, although he really likes her, she pushes her friend away and then everyone sees what she's really like. A nasty bitch, clearly. All of this in one music video!

So for this lead character I've been asked to make her look early 20's, and sexy. I thought a classic teel and deep green coloured smoked eye, with flawless bronzed skin and a natural glossed lip.

So I sat in my bathroom with all my make-up around me
, still listening to David's snoring, and started to have a play around!

I started by applying a thin layer of foundation over the eye, to even out the skin tone slightly and prime the eye, then started with my base which was a liquid eye liner in a metallic bright green, I blended this all over the lid, then used Bourjois 'Noir 07' which is a deep black with green sparkles running through it.
I packed this colour all over the lid up to the crease and blended out.
I then took my Sleek palette in 'Storm' (which sadly I am running out of) and took the beautiful teel green shimmery colour that is next to the blue, and put this on the inner half of the lid.
Then smoked out the crease by blending with the matte black from the 'Storm' palette.
After all this, I took a clean wet wipe, wrapped around my index finger and wiped from underneath the eye upwards, in a sweeping motion, then the same but along the top sweeping downwards, this creates a clean slick boarder for the shadow.
I highlighted under the brow and around the entire eye with Bourjois 'Beige Rose 08' tight lined with black eye liner from No 7 and finished by grooming through the brows, and applying a deep brown powder combed through them.
Easy! Simple smokey green eye, but with a defined outline, perfect for the music video, I just hope the actor agrees!

What's coming up!

Ok so I've been away from my laptop for a while, avoiding any real work, and playing on polyvore! (picture above) but have some great things lined up.
I recently did a shoot for another photographer (Leonie Wilson) who is building up a portfolio on her website for EPQ, much like I am.
I am now established on her website as her make-up artist! http://leoniewilsonphotography.weebly.com/

I have also been asked, by PanicPlastic (C) to do the make up for the cast of a music video, this is a more high-budget shoot which will be a great experience.
The setting is like a big party, in an abandoned barn, and our film crew have worked on shows like X factor and Top Gear.

I also have a new camera, so I will be filming clips from backstage at the music video shoot and take plenty of photos of the make-up!

wedding!

On July 31st 2010, my lovely cousin Alex married his girlfriend of 10 years!
They met in school at the age of 15, and have been together ever since. It was the perfect white wedding and the bride looked stunning.
This is a photo of my family and I waiting outside the church, it was also my birthday that day and I got lots of lovely presents! My best friends got me a beautiful pink make-up carry case! I got a lot of make-up from David, and his mum, and a new camera from my parents!
It was a great weekend, full of love, family, and wine!!

Photo shoot 28/7/10

Today we had the photo shoot and it went amazingly well, other than the constant walking all over the country side!
It was a lot of fun and we've got some great photos out of it for Panic Plastic Productions, my EPQ and this blog!
Ellis our model was brilliant and great to work with, as was the fantastic photographer Josh White.
Very tired now so I need some sleep, check out the photos and behind the scenes photos on my pages >>
more pictures to be added during the summer!
this is my favourite picture from the shoot :)

Photo shoot.

A good friend of mine runs a website for scouting actors/dancers/models etc. and privately run art groups, who specialise in film making http://panicplastic.weebly.com/.
He has kindly asked me to do the make-up for a photo shoot, featuring one of the actors from the site, she is also a close friend :)
I've packed and cleaned all my products, and separated them into different labelled boxes, and washed all my brushes and packed them into my brush belt, I'm ready to go!
Just got to pick up hand sanitizer and baby-wipes in the morning before I go off to a remote part of the country side near a church, apparently.
I will also be putting up the photos from the shoot up here on my blog :)

Also, here's a link to my polyvore profile

Also 4 days until my birthday!

work work work.

For the past two days, I've sat in David's bed researching for my EPQ, this is a part of my college work, where you choose a subject/topic to research and you go away by yourself and build a portfolio on it.
Naturally I have chosen make-up, but more specifically make-up for performance, and will be doing photo shoots throughout the process of this piece of work.
The research is taking me a long time, and it basically consists of me going onto my favourite artist's websites and blogs, and then writing about them.
Most of my favourite artists have a YouTube channel which will help me out a lot, as also I would like to start up my own YouTube channel for make-up and vlogs.

I have my birthday on the same day as my cousin's wedding, which is in exactly a week, which will also be the day I get my new camera so I can get the ball rolling with some make-up photos! Also I'll be posting pictures from the wedding :)

Review: Rimmel's Instant Tan Face & Body Make-up

I've been using the instant tan lately rather than full on fake tan for the summer, as I prefer to be able to wash off any mistakes in the shower easily!
I also like that it doesn't leave that biscuit-y fake tan smell on my skin, and that you can see where you're applying it, and how much.
Another instant tan I have used the Sublime Bronze Gel, which I hate, unless you want irremovable glitter on your hands and face, this product is not for you, it claims to have an 'illuminating effect' which does just mean chunky glitter everywhere, on the positive side, I did like the colour for my face as it was natural looking, and not orange but I still couldn't stand the glitter.
The downfall of the Rimmel tan is that I have only found it in 2 colours, one is very light, and as daunting as it looks when it's just come out the bottle, it's not very dark once rubbed into the skin, the other shade (medium matte) I have tried it incredibly dark, and after a lot of scrubbing and hot soapy water, it has stained my hands a weird brown/purple colour, bad times.
Overall though I'm enjoying using the Rimmel instant tan also because, it's quick drying and has no funny smell! overall 4/5

rain rain rain :(

Sitting in bed with my cat sleeping on my knees, listening to the rain hit my windows, you'd never believe it was mid July.
I've had to cancel walking into town to meet up with an old friend and go shopping for one of my favourite things, stationary.
I need to buy all new folders/pads and a little organiser book for my new year at college, I do love the smell of fresh, unused note books...
I am also wanting to buy the famous MAC Fix + I have been meaning to purchase it for years and never got round to it with the spare cash, I like the idea of something that will moisturise my skin before any make up, fix the make up in place, but also you can spritz it over your face during the day to 'freshen up' your face, cool you down, or it can even be used in your hair to give it shine and moisture!
I'm also flicking through facebook pictures, and found a girl with an electric blue eye shadow, taken above the crease, using what looks like a sponge applicator by the finished edge of it, with no foundation what so ever, the make up artist in me screams out when I see photos like this!
Well it's gone 11 and I need to get ready for some friends coming to the house,
